About this copy
This copy is from the first Batsford printing of Edlin's introduction to British forestry and woodland natural history, first published in spring 1947. The dust jacket carries the well-known landscape design by Brian Cook, depicting a timber wagon drawn by horses in a pine forest. The book is housed in its original pictorial dust jacket, priced 15s. net on the front flap.
A previous owner has added period pencil notes of native tree and wildflower names to the front free endpaper.
Condition
- Book
- Good – cloth boards show wear to corners and spine ends, with foxing to the endpapers and preliminary leaves. Text block is otherwise clean and sound.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – the jacket is present and complete enough to display the full Brian Cook design, but shows significant wear including tears and paper loss at the spine head and corners, plus some tape repairs to the front panel.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
