About this copy
This copy shows the 1993 copyright date on the copyright page with no subsequent reprint or later printing statement visible, consistent with a first printing of the first edition. Hardcover in publisher's cloth binding, housed in the original illustrated dust jacket. The jacket front reproduces an engraving after Keller (c.1800) of Alexander von Humboldt and Aimée Bonpland on the Orinoco; the back reproduces an illustration from the first edition of the Carta a Santángel (Barcelona, 1493).
Condition
- Book
- Good – boards and text block appear clean and sound in the photographs; a previous owner's small adhesive address label is affixed to the front free endpaper.
- Dust jacket
- Good – overall wear consistent with handling; noticeable brown staining along the front flap fold and spine turn-in area is visible in photographs.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
