This is the first edition of England South, the opening volume of a planned trilogy by Sydney R. Jones intended to cover the whole of England. The copyright page states 'First published 1948' with no further printings indicated. The book is illustrated throughout by the author, who was also known for London Triumphant and Thames Triumphant.
The book is housed in its original pictorial dust jacket, printed in green, depicting a map and townscape of southern England, priced 18s net on the front flap.

- Good – green cloth boards, text block clean internally with only light age toning noted to the endpapers.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – heavily worn with significant chipping and tears to the spine head and top corners of the front panel, including a tape repair at the top edge. Jacket is complete enough to display the full title and artwork but shows considerable handling wear.
