About this copy
This single-volume illustrated history runs to 768 pages with over 700 pictures, maps, and colour plates, and includes an introduction by Sir John A. R. Marriott, former Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford, and one-time M.P. for York. The copyright/printing page was not available to examine, so the exact printing of this copy cannot be confirmed, though the front free endpaper carries a period gift inscription dated Christmas 1945, giving a sense of the book's age. The book is bound in blue cloth boards and retains its original printed paper dust jacket, priced 8/6 on the spine.
Condition
- Book
- Good – text block sound and complete, cloth boards intact; the endpapers and early leaves show scattered foxing/spotting, and there is a period ink inscription to the front free endpaper.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – the jacket is present and appears to be the original, but is heavily worn with chipping and paper loss at the spine ends and corners, plus general toning. Front panel text remains clear and legible.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
