About this copy

This is a hardcover copy of Sandra Saer's local history of the West Sussex parish of Coldwaltham (comprising the hamlets of Coldwaltham, Watersfield and Fittleworth/Hardham area). The copyright page states 'First published August 1987' with no reprint notice, and this copy corresponds to that first printing. The book was issued concurrently in hardcover (ISBN 0 9512619 0 8) and paperback (ISBN 0 9512619 1 6); this is the hardcover issue.

The end-paper maps were drawn by Laurence Greenwood, with jacket/cover photograph by Richard Leathers and jacket/cover design by the author herself. The book runs to over 200 pages and covers the parish's etymology, geography, farming, communications, churches, amenities and community life, drawing on interviews with local residents.
