About this copy

Before the Throne. By William Bellars, M.A., Vicar of Margate. With a preface by Arthur James Mason, D.D. Published by Swan Sonnenschein & Co., Lim., London, 1897.

This is a later printing from the 1897 date on the title page. The preliminary leaf lists thirteen English editions, the first issued in October 1886, so this is not a first edition. The copy carries a manuscript ownership inscription, 'Ben D. Beeley, Dec 30th 1898', on the title leaf.

Publisher's cloth binding with blind-stamped cross on the front board and gilt title on the spine. No dust jacket. The binding is loose, with split hinges front and rear and the text block partly detached from the case.

Condition

Book
Fair – Heavily soiled and worn cloth boards with marks and fading. Spine ends chipped and frayed. Hinges split front and rear, text block loose in places. Endpapers browned and spotted. Manuscript ownership inscription on title leaf.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
