About this copy
This is the first edition of Sir John Gielgud's autobiography, based on a series of BBC radio interviews with John Miller broadcast in 1978. The book traces Gielgud's six decades in the theatre, from his 1921 stage debut through his celebrated stage, film and television career. The copyright page confirms 'First published in Great Britain in 1979 by Sidgwick and Jackson' with no later printing noted.
The book is bound in orange cloth boards and housed in its original dust jacket, featuring a cover photograph of Gielgud by Bernard Schwartz and, on the rear panel, photographs of Gielgud in five of his stage and screen roles. The jacket retains its printed price of £8.95 on the front flap, unclipped.
