About this copy

This is a hardcover copy of Cloete's group biography of three key figures in 19th-century Southern African history. The title page confirms the Collins, London, 1946 publication, though the copyright page with full printing history was not available to examine, so the specific printing (first or later) of this copy cannot be confirmed. The book is bound in cloth boards, without a dust jacket.

A previous owner has inscribed their name in ink on the front free endpaper; this is not the author's signature.

Condition

Book
Good – cloth boards show soiling, light scuffing, and a faint scratch line to the front cover, plus a small stain near the lower edge. There is a tear/split at the front endpaper hinge near the title page. Sound and complete, but with noticeable wear consistent with age and use.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
